The customer had recently embarked on an ambitious, transformational journey aimed at creating a modern, flexible estate for the Civil Service, which sought to replicate the best of the private sector, and wanted to encourage smarter ways of working through leading mobile technology.
The customer required a security provider that could deliver equally modern, digitally enabled and secure working environments across a national portfolio.
Mitie approached the requirement by first ensuring that the client’s culture and risk appetite were aligned to industry standards and any regulatory requirements. A dedicated Security Assurance Manager was assigned to the project and was tasked with designing a holistic security provision that would be a step change in the service delivery and customer experience.
Following a period of contract familiarisation, the Assurance Manager quickly created an end-to-end programme of enhanced security offerings, from dynamic threat assessment and intuitive incident management to intelligence analysis and dissemination, whilst taking into consideration the holistic approach to recognising layers of protection.
Supported by our Global Security Operations Centre, the Assurance Manager has been able to identify threats and vulnerabilities, providing detailed recommendations to the customer and has been able to implement a ‘defence in depth’ approach, which allowed for a more accurate insight into operational efficiency of the security programme, rather than individual components, and therefore all observations and recommendations given were bespoke, cost-effective and in many cases of procedural changes, cost-neutral. These mitigations, which have provided quantifiable improvements in protection for the customer, also, importantly, retained customer experience at its core.
